The Athens High School Symphonic Band is concert ensemble that meets 9th period daily at Athens High School. The band is conducted by Mr. Aaron Backes and Mr. Brandon Lias. The students in the Symphonic Band are in grade 9-12 and perform several concerts throughout the school year including OMEA Large Group Contest in March. The Symphonic Band has performed in New York and Chicago and also had the pleasure of working with guest conductors and composers such as Andrew Trachsel, Bruce Moss, Carol Hayward, Ken Thompson, and Alex Shapiro.
