The Athens Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands meet each morning in separate class periods at Athens Middle School. The bands are directed by Mr. Aaron Backes and Mr. Brandon Lias. The 7th and 8th grade bands perform several concerts throughout the year including a performance at halftime of an AHS Football Game with the AHS Marching Green and Gold and the All Band Concert at Athens High School in May. Participation in the 7th and 8th grade bands prepares students to become successful members of the Athens High School band program. In addition, members of the 8th grade band have the opportunity to participate in the AHS Marching Green and Gold during the fall.
